About Me

I joined the Department of Emergency Medicine at Wake Forest Baptist Health in 2007 where I worked clinical shifts and enjoyed many years working with residents, medical students, PAs, and spent nonclinical time focusing on topics related to women in medicine. I co-chaired the Atrium Wake Forest Baptist Women's Leadership Conference in 2019 and 2021 and until 2024 continued to serve on an advisory committee for this annual conference. I transitioned to Telehealth clinical work with Atrium, and started down a new path becoming a career coach for physicians and other professionals. In my coaching practice I currently see clients (male and female) both locally and in various parts of the country virtually. Many local clients prefer in-person sessions, and I have really enjoyed connecting with them in my office.

For 17 years I have lead "WonderWomen," a local women's group that includes speaker events, discussion groups, book clubs, and podcasts during COVID. Our group has covered a variety of topics including burnout, mental health, parenting, sexuality, diversity and inclusion, women’s health, gender issues, and generally all things related to life as a female working professional - see my “Past Events” tab for a window into our group. Aside from my family, this work has been my greatest passion.

I grew up in Winston-Salem, NC but went to St. Paul’s School for high school, a boarding school in the woods of New Hampshire. My years in boarding school were the most formative and defining experience of my life. It was both humbling and empowering, challenging me in ways that deepened my character while strengthening my confidence. Living away from home at a young age instilled in me a sense of independence and resilience that has guided me throughout my life.

I attended the University of Virginia for undergrad and then graduated from Wake Forest University School of Medicine in 2004 and was a member of AOA. I completed my internship and residency in Emergency Medicine at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center. In 2024 I graduated from the Hudson Institute of Coaching, the oldest coaching training program in the country. I obtained my ACC (Associate Certified Coach) License in October 2024.

Professionally I am most drawn to helping people reconnect with themselves—accepting all aspects of who they are, leaning into their true selves, rediscovering their passions, and letting go of what no longer serves them. Mary Oliver’s question is both simple and profound: “Tell me, what is it you plan to do with your one wild and precious life?”

Personal note if you still with me on this marathon bio ride:
I am married to Dr. Jonathan Kelly (also an Emergency Medicine physician), and we have five kids ages 13-19 including 3 daughters and twin boys. Our house is chaos and our standards are nonexistent. My ideal day would include a brutally hot and challenging hot yoga class, a hike in the sun, a swim in the ocean, some time on a boat, a great live basketball game, a dramatic thunderstorm, unlimited diet Dr. Pepper, chocolate ice cream with more toppings than ice cream, and an Asian dinner with my family cooked by literally anyone else. If you have read all this nonsense, you are too kind and deserve a medal.🥇
